Use a variety of sentence structures — simple, compound, complex, conditional, comparative — accurately and naturally.

Vocabulary

Use topic-relevant words, correct word forms, and avoid repetition. Both range and precision matter to examiners.

Fluency

Avoid long pauses and hesitations. Keep speech flowing naturally. Filler sounds (um, uh, err) reduce your score significantly.

Pronunciation

Speak clearly enough to be easily understood. Word stress, sentence stress, and connected speech all count for higher band scores.

Linking / Coherence

Connect ideas within and between sentences. Use discourse markers: moreover, however, for example, as a result, in addition, therefore…

Key tips

Extend answers logically with reasons and examples. Use your prep time in Part 4 wisely. Record yourself and listen back critically.
